SEN
japanese knives
maple wood, wenge wood, steel
SEN is a Japanese kitchen knife brand based in Sakai, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. Its ambition is to offer handmade products with the highest quality standards and a design that sets it apart from existing offerings. Traditional Japanese knives are highly refined and optimized objects in terms of their manufacture, their shapes and uses. The challenge of our intervention was to bring a new and strong identity to the entire range while retaining the traditional shapes of Japanese kitchen knives.
SEN knives are distinguished by three elements: the blue color of the main part of the handle, achieved through an innovative process of dyeing Hokkaido maple wood with natural indigo from Tokushima Prefecture, the slanted cuts between the body of the handle and the dark wood parts (wenge) at its two ends, and a round insert of wood, also dyed blue, at the back of the handle.
