toxicologic objects

SOD_project, for Spiders On Drugs, was inspired by a 1995 NASA toxicological experiment showing the influence of some psychoactive substances on spiders: marijuana, caffeine, benzedrine and chloral hydrate. This experience shows that each of these substances produces its own degradation of the ability for a spider to weave its web. We translated these very graphic results by creating a series of five “containing objects” (fruit baskets, empty pockets, …). If the natural traps that cobwebs create are degraded in these ways because of these substances, then by analogy, the substances degrade in the same ways the containing function of the corresponding objects.
